Conspiracy Theorist

What the Left thinks: Someone who believes something that is not true.

Definition: A critical thinker who recognizes concerning elements in a prevailing narrative, is inclined to question what a supposed “expert” has to say on the subject, and has ideas about credible alternative ways to understand the evidence.

Description: The word “conspiracy” has very real and specific legal meaning. Having a theory about possible conspiracies is actually quite important. The term “conspiracy theorist ” used to be an effective pejorative term used to ridicule people who were revealing cracks in a prevailing narrative alongside other ideas as to what a proper understanding might be. Use of the term has been an effective tactic to dissuade people from rejecting prescribed false narratives in the mainstream and deterring people from sharing alternate theories. More and more, people recognize this tactic, and are increasingly distrusting of “official sources” of information. As a result, the term does not carry the same pejorative weight that it once did. Understandably, not all conspiracy theories will turn out to be true, and some theories are more developed and credible than others, but the freedom to consider the possibilities through public discourse is important. One conspiracy theory that can be soundly dismissed is the one that suggests that everything we hear from the mainstream media is exactly as it is reported, and they are completely reliable as a neutral source of unbiased information.

The premise of this glossary is that the Left has attempted (somewhat successfully) to commandeer our language. With this resource, we are working to restore it to it’s rightful order.
